He can't trust his own actions after what he did to Finny. Gene feels he might hurt someone like he hurt Finny. Gene doesn't believe in him self like he used to. It wouldn't be the same to him without Finny being there.

Gene doesn't trust himself because of what he did to Finny. He might think he might hurt another person or himself. He doesn't believe in himself as much as he used too. Gene is not the same person.

Gene is meaning that he is unaware of his abilities and that he doesn't like to trust people when their is a risk that he could get hurt.

He doesn't trust himself because of his jealousy of Finny. His jealousy of others could lead to him hating others and he probably doesn't want that. He didn't trust anyone else because he didn't know what they would think of him.

He feels very bad for what he did to Finny he shoved him out of the tree and he can not take back what he did to him. He will have to live with that for the rest of his life. He cannot trust anyone for what he did

I think he lost all trust for anybody when he made Phineas fall off the tree. He's afraid he will hurt someone again. He though of all the things used in sports as potential weapons and didn't want to take the chance for someone to be untrustful like him.

Gene doesn't trust himself because sports are comparable to warlike activities in his mind. After Gene hurt Finny, Gene doesn't trust himself to do the right thing. Gene now wants to do the right thing and doesn't want to hurt anyone.

I think that Gene lost all of his trust for people because of what he did to Finny in the tree. Gene felt so bad for pushing Finny out of the tree so he lost all of his trust for himself and other people. Gene is afraid he will hurt someone else. He doesn't want himself to hurt anyone anymore.
