In both of the books they start fighting because they are making fun of each other and picking on each other.

Mercutio and Tybalt fought because Mercutio was trying do defend Romeo. Gene and Quakenbush fought because Quakenbush made Gene mad. I don't see any similarities between the fights though.

They both fight because they are making fun of each other. In Romeo and Juliet, Mercutio and Tybalt fight each other because they made fun of each other. For Gene and Quackenbush's fight they were calling each other names that turned into a fight.

The fight between Mercutio and Tybalt started because they were making fun of each other. In this story Gene and Quackenbushs fight starts by Quackenbush calling Gene maim.

In both books they started fighting because they were picking on each other. Other than that Mercutio and Tybalt started fighting to protect their households. Gene and Quackenbush just don't like each other which is a similarity because the Capulets and Montagues don't like each other.

Mercutio and tybalt fought each other because mercutio was trying to defend Romeo. They both got mad at each other. I do not think there was similarities between the two fights because mercutio was fighting for a reason.

Quackenbush is similar to Tybalt because Tybalt thinks that he is better than everyone else and he thinks that he can bring down everyone else. Gene is similar to Mercutio because Mercutio is defending his friend and Gene is trying to be in sports but Quackenbush is a self-centered JERK who is trying to make Gene mad. But Quackenbush should not ruin the fact that Gene is trying to do sports by managing the sport that he wants to do for Finny. Finny can't do sports because of his broken leg.

Mercutio was fought Tybalt because he knew Romeo wouldn't fight. Gene fought Quackenbush because he made him mad. Gene thought by fighting him he was fighting for Finny. I don't know the similarities.

I think these fights are the same in the way that Mercutio and Gene were both standing up for someone who wouldn't/couldn't fight. Tybalt and Quakenbush were both saying mean stuff about Romeo and Finny, so those two had no other choice but to fight for their friends.

I agree, Drew. Neither pair liked each other, so they fought, but I also think they were standing up for their friends who wouldn't/couldn't fight.
